A Conning rod

Exactly 9 days after the thieving incident, reaching the Bukit Jalil - Seri Petaling intersection from a meeting with fellow 0-100.com forummer; an unfamiliar noise being heard from the engine bay. Though throttle response was normal, the sound was a bit more louder than it supposed to be.

Worrying that the piston could be shattered, slowly I drove the car to Ganu's place (Ganu aka Mitsubishi) for his review on the case. He confirmed that the conrod's bearing is out of place. Gosh. August have not been kind to me. I'm pretty upset but knowing that it could've been worse, I'm set for development on this block since I already had the plan to overhaul for quite sometime.

The car stalled in EB One for 4 days, so I drove carefully to a friend's workshop nearby Hicom Shah Alam to engage the repairs. After bringing down & disassembly of the engine, looks like conrod no 4 is badly damaged & needs to be replaced. Quickly I searched through Mudah.my & saw an ad selling set of 4G93 pistons + conrods. Turns out it is the same person I dealt earlier to get a backup crankshaft.

Dead conrod

I took the rocker head for some colouring project while Alvin sent the engine parts to the machine shop where they confirmed a few things:
  1. Crankshaft need to be shaved & polished
  2. Current conrods are all goners!
Luckily I had the set of conrods, so that already save me big time. The crankshaft however, is going be shaved & not replaced which means it will be fit with a specially measured bearing for conrod no. 4. So, I'm going with ACL Aluglide set for this session.

To be continued...

D*mn Buggers

Earlier this month, about 2 weeks before the reach of Ramadhan, my car was breach by riding robbers! The driver side window was wrecked (luckily my tint still holds the breaking portion). They stole a gadget inside of the glove box, along with my gear knob. Gear knob??
Many suspect that this could have been insider's work, from where could it be prolly the workshop that installed the gadget itself but who knows.

According to a maid of a neighbour which is also the only eye witness during the incident, there were 2 men on motorcycle that produced the tragedy, which could probably be Indonesian. It was around 2.00pm in the afternoon when it happpened.

Seeming there's an intake manifold at the backseat, the robbers only took whatever convenient most to handle but they do possess the knowledge on the gadgetry since it the socket was detached without any trace of snaps...

Just some pics for viewing pleasure...

Under the hood 1

I've been thinking about changing the tower strut for a while, so I crossed a half-cut store that sells few adjustable Cusco struts matching the mounting specs for a Putra. The one I had in the bay (looks like Hurricane tower bars sold in ENEOS) is already distorted due to flexes taken on hard driving days, where it also marked a scratch underneath the front hood.

Bought the used strut for RM200, which I reckon can get cheaper about RM150 at some other shop. Guess I was just to lazy to joust into a bargain :P

So I had it replaced on a fine day during wheel balancing at a tyre shop, earlier this month.

Mounted tower brace

A few days ago, I bought some pre-cut hood sound dampeners from Brothers Accessories Shop in Kelana Jaya, so I just took my time pasting it underneath the hood to further help insulate the engine noise when it's running. Cost is quite cheap which is RM38 for a stock Proton Wira / Satria / Putra front hood. Just for reference, same insulation material retails at RM35 per square meter. The material looks & feels of an OK quality for the price offered.

Sound dampeners (insulation)

I wiped all access grease underneath the hood. Any tough grease got a good help from WD40 for removal & get the surface squeaky as much as I can with a dry cloth.

Day 1

Day 1: Halfway

Day 2: Completed

As we can see everything fits into place accordingly. Not too shabby eh?

Face-Lived

After sometime, the car's paint seems to be a bit in disorder due to peeled skin & unwanted scratches which oversees the true religion of the paint nature.
I had again ordered a touch-up activity from Din (my occasional spray painter) to help me about it.

Few things had been re-sorted:
  • replacement of side skirts (Poly Urethane Perdana V6's trimmed length)
  • installation of door trim (lining) with custom rear fender lining
  • replacement of Asti Spoiler with custom duck tail version (non-Batman or so-called Asti-Z)
  • refinement on front lips mount & paint work
Replacement of spoiler includes tampering the mounting holes with steel for permanent seal.

The works started on the 10th this month but seemed to dragging until Saturday, 15th since the rain was up & about during the works. Due to lack of sheltered ground, the works only completed that night about 1 am, when I was finished with my badminton activities @ New vision courts in Petaling Jaya with fellow ex-university mates.

Hehe, aku bukan tak berkenan nak tukar kereta lain, tapi aku sayang keta aku ni. Enjin jarang bermasalah, cuma kadang-kadang je merengek. Biasalah, umur lanjut skit. Kalau dah menyampah macam tu lah...

Walau bagaimanapun, aku rasa suatu hari nanti aku akan beli kereta lain jugak. Samada kereta ni aku simpan ke tak tu blakang cerita la tapi sentimental dah tentu kaw-kaw punya, dah lama bercinta la katakan.

2 orang manager kat bahagian Business Development opis tempat aku kerja sekarang ni pun asik la pancing aku beli Evo... kalu aku cap duit aku memang dah sental dah Evo Meebo ni.

"At least masuk turbo... 4G63 laa tak pun GSR", kata Mr Z no.1 & Mr Z no.2.
Sama je otak dua-dua. Mana taknya, sorang bawak Evo VII, assistant-nya plak bawak STI ver8... Cis dunia memang tidak adil....

Sekian aje aku membebel sensorang kali ini. Kalu ada lain kali nanti aku bagitau. Aku bagitau sini je laa, korang bukan nak amik tahu sangat pun.

Project S?

Adjustable coil-overs have always been the fond of basic handling modification. As I treat myself to getting used to ride-stiffness by changing springs, I finally came to my senses of installing hi-low adjustable absorbers.
Project S of Taiwan is a newly introduced brand, which I'd say I'm satisfied with the setting & its material are acceptable if not on par with common brands like GAB or HWL. Spring rates goes 6kg (front) - 4kg (rear) which are pretty ideal to my preference.
A colourful & catchy set, how it caught my attention earlier. Was inducted by fellow ZTH forummer. Installation was later carried out by ATS Automobile in Sunway.

Thanks for the bargain, Andy.

Daily confusion

As I was sorting out my work clothes, I came to a realization that I have a complete set of 1 month 5 days-a-week formal clothing to dispense... I think I might become more lazy to iron the shirts from now on :p

The shiny ones are Baju Melayu laa...
Feel like a girl's collection... biasa la gals kan suka beli baju

Semakan Raya

Imej 1: Bush Lower Arm Kanan

Imej 2: Bush Lower Arm Kiri

Bagi meningkatkan lagi keyakinan beta yang masih amatur, beta juga dinasihatkan untuk menukarkan bush 'sate'. Bush 'sate' ini adalah getah alas untuk besi pengikat lower arm dengan sway bar (lihat gambar dibawah);

Lazy & Malas

Masuk semalam dah 5 hari marathon CS berlangsung.
I mean, lepas berbuka sambung tidurlah. Tengahari tu aku sempat tonton filem Notting Hill lakonan Hugh Grant & Julia Roberts, teringat pada sikap lama aku yang suka membaca. Hairan juga kenapa aku dah kurang minat nak membaca sejak beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini. Mungkin sebab aku bukan Hugh Grant agaknya.
Pagi ni berjaya bangun awal sebab dah lama dah stok kan tenaga batin dari semalam, jadi apabila marathon berlangsung pun takde kesan yang mendalam. Walau bagaimanapun sama je emosi kat opis ni, malas.
Nasib baik takde customer call pergi site (baru 11.45am ni, harapnya kekal sampai ke petang).
Kalau buleh sebenarnya aku nak baring dalam keadaan statik atas 4 kerusi kat bilik meeting sampai pukul 4.30pm.
  1. Bushing lower arm dah kaput!
  2. Nak balance balik rim lama aku, dan nak jual rim aku supaya aku dapat duit utk makan nasik instead of makan pasir
  3. Duit raya nak spend kat bebudak limited! (RM5 je sorang yg korang bleh dapat tahun ni...tetapi rasa macam sama je seperti tahun lepas?)
  4. Penjimatan duit minyak yg tak masih belum terbukti selepas pengumuman penurunan RM0.10
  5. Hutang-piutang pinjaman yang aku tak sabar² nak bayar sebelum raya ni, supaya aku dapat meratap hiba pada baki yang tinggal untuk aku guna-rayakan (kalau aku aysirf tu best la gaji aku melimpah ruah, tetapi nak kena bercinta Mr N dia pulak hari-hari, takpelah aku kensel dari cadangan nak jadi aysirf, pulak tu ada baki RM100 lagi ni halamak tangkap nangis betullah)

Livepool beats Man U (the other day)

Putting the subject 50% aside, here's a Livepool themed Vespa which parks on daily basis, down at the office compound:

I'd say it's well taken care of & from what I acknowledge about Vespas, it has longer torque curve than most cubs or newer scooters do; hence most of the owners tune this machine to sprint on a distant run. If tuned properly, it may even go faster than a Yamaha 125Z (stock mode).

The Notebook

I've just landed on a a movie of love story that tickles that soft spot of mine, after being safe for quite sometime. It's a story of how Ryan Gosling (Noah) & Rachel McAdams (Allie) started to meet each other, so in love, separated by situation & reconcile their story with complications of promises & just.

Oh this soooo remind me of my younger self... (when I was acting all complicated & lacking maturity) hahaha!
Whatever it was, tabik to Noah for fulfilling his words without 2nd thoughts. Superb.

Anyway I'm off to the 'buka puasa' at Armada Hotel, later on I will give a bump about my arm bushes that has worned out since past few days :(
Gleduk gleduk gleduk bunyinya...

About a nut

Last Saturday, I had my rims changed since the 'new' rims were ready after I asked a paintshop to check on the lacquers. Turns out the silicone wipe were repelling the lacquers, so the guy said it's not applicable at the moment. I have no problems with that since the paint looks just fine, so to install the rim without further ado.

Once the present rims where removed, spring isolators were fitted in between the spring coils to stiffen & increase the rate of the springs. I had the idea of putting these on ever since there were significant bouce on certain wavy roads, hence spotted isolators being sold by a fellow 0-100 forummer which then, were delivered after a confirmed deal the night earlier.

The package:

Installed:

As my mechanic was helping with changing rims, we were stalled to the rear right when the alloy nut lug broke into half. Out of ideas, we tried go get it drilled in hope to break the compound to pieces after a friend suggested me the idea over a telephone conversation.

Drilling for 2 hours got us no where, so I had to get a friend's help to send it over to a rim shop near his place to get it removed, which still being planned because I just don't have the time yet.
A bit of preview... :D

Angry over an idiot

Being tickled by the emotions based on trust & friendship, it's not really hard to get over a bad sequence once in a while but when it comes to a serious & threatening situation, you can't get away with being all fired up to kill somebody or at least break his leg.

Such situation often results as an ink blot that's hard to remove, especially when you have known each other well over light years but still being cheated effortlessly. Seemlessly coming back & forth with logical reasons, it all then boils up to a realization that any good intentions you were trying to serve has instead, become pejorative & disregarded? Damn.

The climax of the frustration is when you find out they don't even consider about anyone else or their safety! All those self-centered decisions & irresponsible misconducts have caused irreversible state. Well, humans just don't realize what they have until they have lost it... I hope such person lives well to understand & appreciate the fact that he is still alive... DUMBASS.

Historical Data

While digging up my image archive, I stumble upon some images taken not so long ago... this single (just below) was an attempt made during an urban night drive. I remember that I used to be going faster than this, however recently I began to feel that this is a better limit to stick on & less likely to have speed cravings :p

After the fuel hike recently, almost certainly that I'm driving with controlled right foot day after day. And with a tranny driven by 4G93P, it's nice that I am still able to feel some very, very little G-force once in a while...

Anyway, last Friday night I was given task to put on signs leading to my friend's residence, since he was getting married & his family fixed 5 gazebos for dine-in (or more like lunch-in).

Time at the Cyber

What's been up till now? We're having lots of time in CC lately playing CS...
the addiction came some time ago, but when the CC's operation was shut due to unlicensed game installation, our nights were brought down to disclosed emptiness.

So what did we do?
Spend our nights like we always do, mamak lepaking, do our own stuff which in my case: went for basketball practice, jog around the small lake @ Bukit Jalil, spent more time downloading & watching movies downloaded. I'd like to remind myself there's still tons of titles remaining unlisted as some of them were downloaded by my little sister.

Until last night, I did not remember to clean my PC, spider webs & dust are slotting all over the internals (I did not keep the housing bolted nor mounted). I guess it's about time I go back to review the arrangements of items & housekeeping, though I've been busy like hell lately (is hell really that busy too? -- I don't want the answer)

Between colours

I'm going for colour repaint on the Putra, so I had these on my mind:
  • Iridiscent White
  • Honda New Bronze Metallic
  • Honda Type-R White
  • Skyline Calsonic Blue
  • Subaru Impreza STi Pearl Blue
Which finally resulted in the 1st choice... hihi.
So just some undercoat pictures... not flat grey colour yaa... hahaha

Induction cleaning

Happen to cross some free time (3 weeks ago, btw) ; I was checking on the idling hence dismantled the induction box & hose to the throttle body...
So just thought I cleaned up the induction system a bit to fill up my time.

Unscrewed the induction box

Washing the induction box

How do I clean the MAF sensor? Simply wipe here & there only!

The result was more stable idling & slightly better response.

The bad news is just after 1 week of that, my car was crashed by a Perodua Kancil driver who happens to be drunk as early as 2015pm in the night. What the heck??
So I'll scrap down the Putra look & go for Wira SE grille with the bumper ... lalala~~

Idling matters

Apart from having certain errands being forgotten, I had my car undergo an MUT check (possibly tuning) but halted when I was informed the idling stepper controller (or idling stepper motor) possibly out of order.

Without A/C (Normal: go around 12++ step)
On Idle: 0 step
Idle with 2nd fan initiated: 0 step

With A/C (Normal: go around 60++ step)
On Idle: 17 step
Idle with 2nd fan initiated: 39 step

These are readings from MUT-II, and standard figures based from the attending mechanic's explanation.

Stepper motor
| Throttle opening | Idling motor

As advised, few possibilities might have contributed this error:
1. Bad wiring
2. Dirty ISC
3. Disfunctional ISC
